Rewire Your Milano Fan to Run After the Engine is Turned Off

It's relatively easy to rewire the Milano cooling fan to run after the engine is shut off. As to why one would want to do this, see the article Thermosyphoning and Heat Soak Effects. The engine cooling fan circuit is fairly simple--see Figure 2.

The fuse/switch/coil are part of the engine cooling fan relay, designated I1, which is mounted on the inside fender wall near the airbox.

To rewire the fan so it’s still controlled by the thermal switch, but operates independently of the ignition switch, all you have to do is run a wire to I1’s coil from a 12v source not controlled by the ignition switch. This is easy to do since there is a continuously powered +12v connector near I1.
