With the ’97 track events going on, everyone will has tuning their Alfas to look for that extra power.

Check your W.O.T. (wide open throttle).
It is amazing how many cars need adjusting for this basic maximum power requirement. On the early Alfas with side-draft carbs, the linkage can usual be adjusted for more throttle opening. The bell crank under the intake manifold may be worn and require rebuilding. Parts are hard to find, so it may be necessary to install a bushing to remove the play.
The Spica cars have several adjustments that affect W.O.T.
The forward, vertical stop screw on top of the intake manifold allows adjustment for W.O.T. The throttle cable usually needs to be drawn up to remove the slack. Have someone hold the throttle to the floor inside the car and with a small mirror check the throttle plates. They should be fully open, centered in the throttle bodies.
On some of the Bosch injected cars there is a clip and grommet with slots allowing cable take up.
